will watch Chapters 3 - 5 of the DVD series "Contemporary Voices Along
the Lewis and Clark Trail" and address the study questions immediately
following the transcripts of the study guide.
If the subject matter and vocabulary prove to be too dense for your
students, have students view "Why Save a Language?" Chapter 1 and do the
accompanying activities. Check with Indian Ed for availability.
Approximate Teaching Time: 2 55 minute class periods Students
view "Why Save a Language?" to discuss the importance of language to
oral history and the survival of tribal lifeways. Check with OSPI's
Indian Education Office on availability of materials.
